Dog Grooming in Milton
Proper canine grooming requires the proper knowledge, preparation, and equipment. It's important to clean your pup as frequently as is recommended. Proper grooming is important for doggies for most of the same reasons that it's important for people.
When your hound is clean and trimmed it feels happy, satisfied, and self-confident. Besides that, proper cleaning will keep your pooch healthy. Dirty pups will tend to become infested with harmful parasitic insects like fleas and ticks. Your pooch will be less healthy and happy if you fail to clean them at the proper frequency.
Here are the essential tips for freshening your fido that you can follow:
Tip #1 - Equipment
For the absolute best results, you need the right equipment. In fact, use the same equipment the professionals use. Some of those tools should be used on smooth coat hounds, and some should be used on long coat pups.
Tip #2 - Nail Clipping
Use a solid pair of clippers. Flimsy ones will only break after a few uses. When clipping your pup's nails, pay attention to the coloring of their nails. You'll notice that at some point, the nail turns pink. This is called the "live" part of the toe nail. Never clip past that part of the nail or this will cause bleeding.
Tip #3 - Short Coats
When freshening smooth coat doggies, use a rubber and bristle hairbrushes. Always go against the grain of the hound's coat. Use the rubber hairbrush to remove large foreign matter from your tyke's hair. Then use the bristle hairbrush to remove finer particles of hair and dirt. Then use a chamois to polish their coat and give it a glossy sheen.
Tip #4 - Long Coats
Long coats require combing twice a week or their hair will mat. Use slicker and bristle brushes and a steel wide tooth comb. Use the slicker brush daily to ensure the coat doesn't get tangled and matted. Then use the pin brush, which penetrates the hairs more deeply. Make sure you untangle your canine's hair underneath their legs. Most people neglect that part. Finally, use the wide-tooth comb to take out any left-over tangles. You can also use a finer tooth comb to give your pet a glossy finish.
Tip #5 - Warnings
Follow these pet cleaning tips regularly, you'll be able to notice warning signs that your hound may have health problems. For instance, pay attention to your pet's stomach. Make sure there's no flaky, red dry skin or lumps. It's better to learn how to spot and deal with minor canine health problems before they become major ones. If you need transportation to and from the veterinarian, we recommend our pet taxi services.
